The official start of the Project „Reducing access inequalities in primary healthcare for socially significant diseases at CB Area’s deprived communities” with Acronym “EQUAL2HEALTH”, ref. No.2123, is implemented under 2nd Call of Cooperation Programme “Interreg V-A Greece-Bulgaria” 2014-2020“ was given on 26th of January 2018. The event was held in the city of Thessaloniki, Republic of Greece.
The meeting was hosted by Leading Partner General Hospital of Thessaloniki “G Papanikolaou” – PHT, Unit Psychiatric Hospital of Thessaloniki. After a short presentation of each of the partners and their teams, the topic of the discussions were the challenges for the project implementation, as well as the results that need to be achieved within the project. The representatives of the partners united around the idea that reducing inequalities in access to health services in the border region, by protecting citizens from socially significant diseases, promoting health prevention, promoting a supportive environment for a healthy lifestyle, and innovation in the field of healthcare which represents a real opportunity to attract qualified medical staff and improve the general health of the public. The subject of the meeting were also the opportunities for active cooperation between medical professionals on both sides of the border, as well as sharing experiences between them in the field of socially significant diseases, which are in the scope of the project.
